When I was a kid, my dad used to tell me 2 things: 1. Readers are leaders. 2. “Someday, when I die, you’ll get my inheritance.” (then he’d point at his book collection and laugh and tell me he had no money so the books would have to do.) I would roll my eyes and think about how terrible of an inheritance that would be! What a rip off!
Today, I see what he’s saying. Thanks dad!
As business owners and entrepreneurs, you can only go as far as you grow. So what’s the best (and quickest) way to grow? Hang out and spend time with the best leaders and business minds out there! As Jim Rohn has said, “If you want things to change, YOU must change.”
This is where change begins.
Here are 32 of my favorite books (so far) that will change your life. Think that sounds too lofty? Read them first and then let me know if I was wrong. If they don’t change your life, I’ll see if Amazon will refund you.

One of the most overlooked areas for leaders and influencers is the subject of communication. This is an easy read and highly applicable to anyone (not just pastors).
If you have an idea and you want to launch it and promote it, this book is a GREAT read and resource to help you figure out how to do that.
Failing is an event, not a person. Things aren’t always going to go your way in your business or in your life. John’s book is a classic and a great way to learn to deal with this big issue.
Its going to be painfully obvious who has had so much influence on me and how I think by the time you’re done with this list. But…this is another must-read from Andy that is incredibly applicable to, both, life and business. Ever wanted to know how to get from where you are to where you want to go? This can help!
This book is amazing! Get it and read it, take notes, then re-read both your book and notes again!
If you look up “all-time best business books” – this will be on every list! There’s a reason. If you haven’t read it yet, it’s time. But only if you’d like to go from “Good to Great”!
Another great book by Seth Godin! How will you make your business stand out from the rest? Maybe you could make it as interesting and help it stand out like a purple cow! This book can help you set yourself apart from the rest.
It sounds like a broken record, but this is a best-of-the-best book. A classic that will show you how timeless and true these principles are and how they can help you win and thrive. Great book!
My wife and I went through this book and it gave us some of our best tools for the challenges in marriage. If you are married, I could not recommend this any higher! Part of Thriving at Life is having a great marriage that lasts. This is a must read if you’re married and want to Thrive!
Read everything these brothers write! Seriously. This book is great for helping you make better decisions in life and work (as the title states). No surprise, that’s exactly what you’ll learn! Great book!
Jon is a great writer and someone who practices what he preaches. He is writing from experience and understands where you are. This book will challenge you and encourage you at the same time! Definitely get it and read it!
I had asked a good friend who is a great leader what he was reading and he recommended this book. I had no expectations for it but was blown away by this book and the premise. Tim lives an unbelievable life and it is because of what he writes and shares here. Intriguing, interesting, and definitely inspiring!
Another thing I’ve repeated a few times is what I’ll say again here: Read everything Malcolm writes! He is such a great writer. There is always something interesting, helpful, and thought-provoking in his books and this is a great example of it. This is a fun and worthwhile read.
I remember reading this years ago and didn’t think it would be that interesting. I thought being a millionaire was something I’d never achieve, so why read it? (my mindset has grown a lot since those days!) But the truths and ideas presented in this book will make you look at your neighbors and your own life differently when you’re done.
I took SO many notes when I read this! As a business owner (and truly in probably every area of your life) influence and persuasion are used and needed. We all could benefit from growing in this area. Great book!
I love the premise and idea of this simple book. It will truly help you to see further into what is happening or being asked and help you to expand the way you look at challenges or problems you encounter.
I really loved the writing style and ideas that Justin presents here. If you’re looking for the motivation and the plan to move your marriage to the forefront, this is a great one to start with!
There was a time when the concepts and ideas in this book saved my wife and I from so much trouble. It gave us a game plan, a direction, and a focus when we needed it most. Everyone can benefit from this book and I highly recommend it (even if its just to share with someone you love who could use it!).
Any cheese lovers out there? If so, you’ll hate it if someone moved yours! Okay, this book isn’t about cheese. But its about dealing with change – which is inevitable for all of us – in both life and business. It is an easy, great read about getting your mind right. Which is the beginning and ending of winning in life.
Back to Andy. Think about the title and it ought to raise your curiosity. What do you think the answer is? If you haven’t read this yet – click on the book and order it immediately! Its that good and (as everything Andy does) that helpful in many areas of your life and business.
This has been one of the most influential and helpful (and easy!) books I have read for my network marketing business. If you are in one yourself, do yourself a favor and read this and apply it!
As you can tell, I’m an avid reader. This book, in my opinion, is one of the best I’ve ever read – and I’ve read it many times! This book will help you keep life in perspective and remember to focus on what matters and let go of what doesn’t. Powerful and important.
I’ve mentioned the Heath brothers already and this book is no exception. Since change is inevitable and it is almost always hard, we all could use some help to learn how to deal with change better. This is a great book that you’ll read more than once.
Helping yourself and then passing that on to the next generation is what much of having a home based business is all about. In Rich Dad, Poor Dad, Robert Kyosaki shares what rich parents teach compared to poor and middle class parents. This book will change the way you think about wealth and growing a business that you love and are in control of.
There are givers and there are takers. In The Go-Giver, the authors share the “secret” that is really no secret at all, but a principle that God has put in to effect since the beginning of time. The problem: We rarely trust that this secret is true for us. This book will change your mind about that and put you on the right course.
Few leaders are as focused on or as good at understanding and teaching on vision. Vision for you, your teams, your business, etc. As a leader and business owner, you owe it to yourself to get a grasp on your personal vision and mission so that you can better lead others to discover theres as well. This book will help you do just that.
I am a huge Darren Hardy fan and follower! In this powerful book, Darren shares so many incredible principles, ideas, and tips to help you understand what’s at stake, why it matters to more than you, and what to do about it. This is one of the top must-reads from this list!
Written in 1937 and still as applicable today as it was then, Think and Grow Rich will set you up for success and help you do what the first word says: think. There is not a leader who has won in business who has not read this book! Don’t be the first! (I have no idea if that’s true, but I bet it is!)
In this powerful book, Carol Dweck shares what it is all about and the common denominator behind every great leader: mindset. You cannot win without it and this book can help you create it.
